Downslope is sinkhole bottom with pasture center.;Karst topography on Greenbrier limestone on hill above a large sinkhole valley. Limestone bedrock outcrops in plot. Forest is middle aged, dominated by oaks and ash with hickory abundant in subcanopy. Limestone indicators include Chinquapin oak in shrub layer and abundance of legumes in herb layer. Herb layer is diverse. Site was probably cleared and grazed in past, with pasture abandonedment proceeding downhill over time.
